Lionsgate Center – The Gatehouse

Since pulling the chain on my “official business” and going freelance, I thought I’d make some time to learn more. What better way than to tag along as a second or even third shooter at weddings? I have the eye and plenty of creative visions of the photos I want to make, but I’m learning that those aren’t always easy to pull off with the amount of time you have to work with on a wedding day. A friend was gracious enough to allow me to tag along as a third shooter yesterday, and it helped me pinpoint a couple of skills I want to work on refining. I shot completely in manual mode, too.

The plan was to have the ceremony outdoors. The weather had other plans. Thank goodness this couple opted for a “first look” (seeing each other in a private setting before the ceremony). Not only were their photos taken outdoors, but the entire wedding party was photographed with them as well. Plan B was put into action, tables were moved around, and the wedding took place indoors in front of beautiful stained glass windows.  The couple and the entire wedding party were so much fun! Catering by Famous Dave’s and an open bar … what’s not to love?!

I saw this idea somewhere and had to try it. I’m so excited that it worked!
