Adding Textures to Photos

Creating Art Pieces

I resisted the idea of using textures in photos thinking it was froo-froo extra stuff that was unnecessary. However, so many people are arming themselves with prosumer level digital cameras and taking their own portraits these days and bypassing professional photography services. I think that if photographers get a little more artsy with some photos as options, people might seek their services more for that very reason. It’s not a super easy thing to do, and it’s a little difficult to learn because there are a lot of steps involved.

I took my camera around my own house on Sunday, inside and out, and took 30 photos to use as textures. Then I quickly grabbed a photo that I thought might work well with texture and experimented.

Before – a very nice photo…

After – an artsy photo…

So what do you think of adding textures to photos?
