Dude Ranch Wedding

My adventures in second shooter land continue. This weekend I helped shoot a wedding at Sylvan Dale Ranch in Loveland, CO. This couple was so laid back and not all about traditions (except for not seeing the bride before the wedding). This was a bit of a rowdy bunch, which makes things fun!

I’m learning that each wedding is unique, which is quite the opposite of what I’ve seen on the many, many blog posts I browse with wedding photos. There’s a pattern in those posts in how photos are presented: bride getting ready, groom getting ready, the first look (if they choose to do that), details (dress, shoes, jewelry, flowers), a few portraits, and details of venue (tables, cake, etc.). If links are provided for vendors, this is probably a great networking technique.

As a second shooter, I’m focused largely on candids to toss in the mix. It’s nice to add this variety to the posed photos. This way the primary photographer can focus on getting the basics and any special requested photos.

Some faves…

Yes, the bride wore cowboy boots. I was giddy!

The beauty of outdoor weddings … freedom to move around more. I was behind a speaker up front.

The boots!

Perfect!
