On Tuesday, June 26, 2012, the Flying W Ranch in Colorado Springs, CO, was destroyed by the Waldo Canyon Fire. The company I work for had a picnic there for employees in 2010. When I first heard that nearly the entire ranch was destroyed, I searched for my photos from the company picnic and shared this one on their Facebook page. How poignant are the words found on a desk in the old schoolhouse where this was taken?
I also sent a link to more photos taken that same day in a private Facebook message.
This week, they contacted me privately to ask if I would consider donating an image for a silent auction they are holding in a couple weeks as part of a fundraising event. Touched and honored, how could I say no? This was the very image that came to mind purely for the words seen. It also happens to be the favorite of the person who contacted me. So this is the print I ordered for them!
