Wedding photography has changed considerably over the years. In the 80s, there were very specific and traditional portraits taken. No thought was given to details like today. Rings were shot on the hands, which were typically placed over the bride’s bouquet. And let’s not forget the bride and groom superimposed in a wine glass! Yes, we have that shot in our own wedding album, which is made up of actual satin prints slipped into framed slots in a leather album with a small frame on the front.
These days, it’s quite popular for wedding photos to be delivered on a disc or flash drive. I’ve done that myself. However, as I consider what I want my own wedding photography business to look like (should I choose to fully branch out in that direction), I know I would want to offer more than that.
Wall art! Traditional 8×10 portraits printed and framed on an end table, mantle, or piano are nice, but wouldn’t an image like this look fabulous as a 20×30 inch canvas gallery wrap hung on the wall…
A client once mentioned the idea of 10×20 inch prints in black and white hung in a group of three. With that idea in mind, I came up with this…
I’m as much an artist as I am a photographer, and I enjoy turning images as captured in the camera into interesting pieces of art. As my photography and processing skills continue to evolve, I will continue push my own creativity and offer innovative service and images. I would love to one day include wedding albums as a part of my wedding photography service. Until then, it is my hope that clients will consider displaying artfully crafted images on their walls.
