Many photographers will present their couple with a shot list when discussing wedding photography timelines. That list may look daunting. Don’t let it overwhelm you. Many shots on the list are a given … they will be captured. What you must let us know about are any special requests and extenuating circumstances.
I cannot stress this enough. It is very important that you give the shot list (especially the formals section) your full attention and make sure your photographer has it before your wedding. We know the basic formals that are taken at all weddings, but we don’t know your family and we won’t know that a photo with a special friend you grew up with is important to you unless you tell us. This shouldn’t take longer than 20-30 minutes and can be done over morning coffee or tea or during commercials while watching your favorite evening TV show.
Most importantly, having this list completed will help eliminate stress and make capturing your formal photos go much faster. Even more helpful … discuss your photo desires with your wedding party and family before the wedding (or have your moms take care of that discussion). Also, have a designated person help round up the necessary people for photo time. Remember, we don’t know your family and friends.
Without a list … CHAOS. Chaos = a tearful bride and confused people everywhere. I’m not being mean. I’m being honest.

Please, please, please take the time to get your photographer this important list. What may seem like common knowledge and standard operating procedure really is not the case.
We want your day to be as stress-free as possible!
